Instructions

  1. Mix the water and milk together and heat them in the microwave or on the stove to a lukewarm temperature of approx. 37 ° C. Dissolve the yeast in the liquid by stirring, add the sugar and salt and stir.
  2. Add a third of the flour and mix with a mixer or in a food processor. Add another third of the flour and stir again. Now stir the room-warm margarine in flakes into the dough and mix with the remaining third of the flour.
  3. Now you have to stir until a smooth dough is formed. If the dough should stick, add a little flour. Now cover the dough and let rise in a warm place for about 1.5 - 2 hours. After that, the volume of the dough must have doubled.
  4. Shape the dough into small balls one after the other. Form these on a floured surface into approx. 15 cm long, sausage-shaped rolls.
  5. Now watch out: the left end of the roll is held on the table with your left hand. With your right hand you roll the roll so that after a few turns it arches and curls in the middle, creating a curl. Hide the ends of the rolls under the curls and place on the baking sheet. Do the same with the rest of the dough.
  6. About 12 pieces fit on a baking sheet. Now the donuts have to rest for about 1 hour, but NOT in the very warm oven! After the walking time, the donuts are baked in a preheated oven with top and bottom heat of 200 ° C for about 15 - 18 minutes until golden brown. (Circulating air 190 ° C)
  7. These pastries taste like bread rolls, but with more of their own flavor and the curls are originally served for lunch or as a bread substitute for breakfast / dinner. The rolled structure makes the pastry something special!
