- Beat the mascarpone, eggs, 200 g sugar, and liquid butter together on medium speed for 2-3 minutes until frothy.
- Preheat the oven to 175 °C (350 °F).
- Mix the semolina and baking powder together, then fold into the mascarpone mixture.
- Pour the dough into a greased 25 x 25 cm square cake tin and bake on the middle shelf at 175 °C (350 °F) for 45 minutes until golden.
- While the cake bakes, combine the remaining 125 g sugar, 125 ml water, and 3 tablespoons orange juice in a saucepan.
- Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat and simmer for 2 minutes.
- Pour the hot syrup over the warm cake and let it cool to room temperature.
- Cut the cooled cake into small squares.
- Sprinkle with flaked almonds and serve.
