Instructions

  1. Peel and quarter the potatoes. Put them in a saucepan with salted water so that they are covered and bring to the boil, covered. Cook on medium heat for 10 minutes.
  2. Crack the pea pods and rub out the peas. That makes about 200 g of peas. Add these to the potatoes and let cook for 10 minutes.
  3. Drain everything together, add the milk with the butter and heat briefly. Remove from heat and mash vigorously with the potato masher. Season with salt and freshly grated nutmeg.
  4. Tip: If you don`t get fresh peas, you can of course also use frozen peas (200 g). However, these only have to be cooked for 5 minutes.
  5. Note: The crisp peas make the mash slightly sweet and wonderfully fresh. Pan-fried food goes well with it.
