Instructions

  1. A very popular and delicious summer dish from Turkey. In summer there is a smell of this dish from all kitchens. Just try it out, very tasty. The quantities given are variable. You can also take more or less - as you wish. The recipe looks very long, but don`t worry, it`s not much.
  2. Half-peel the aubergines and zucchini (alternately, striped evenly) and then cut into slices, not too thick slices (1-2 cm). Clean the peppers and cut into two or three pieces. Peel the potatoes and cut to taste. Slices are also typical here, not too thick either - but not as thin as chips. Now wash all the vegetables and place them in a towel or kitchen towel to drain. The vegetables should definitely be drained thoroughly.
  3. Now there are two ways to prepare the vegetables. The calorie-conscious and simpler way and the typical traditional way. I will briefly describe both.
  4. For the simple variant, put the vegetables in a large baking dish or on a large baking sheet after they have drained. Salt and drizzle with olive oil. Now mix all the vegetables well. The oil can be more or less depending on the taste - the more oil you take, the tastier the vegetables will be.
  5. Preheat the oven and simply push the vegetables on the tray into the oven at approx. 200 ° C top / bottom heat. The cooking time varies depending on the amount and taste. If you like it more firm to the bite, you can get it out earlier. But it should definitely be in the oven for half an hour.
  6. For the traditional version, salt the vegetables after they have drained. Now heat plenty of oil in a pan and gradually fry the vegetables in it. Which vegetables you start with is relatively irrelevant. Here, too, how long the vegetables stay in the pan is a matter of taste. This method is a bit time consuming. But you can save a lot of time if you have a pizza pan that is quite large. Then you can put larger quantities in the pan and the whole thing goes faster.
  7. Tip: If you have a balcony and have a pizza pan or deep fryer, you can also prepare the whole thing on the balcony. Then the kitchen doesn`t smell like food and it stays clean and the neighbors get jealous because it smells so good.
  8. Now simply put the can of tomatoes in a pan or saucepan. Salt a little and also season with garlic and cook over low heat for about 15 minutes.
  9. Now arrange the finished vegetables on a plate or in a deeper dish. First pour the vegetables, then the yoghurt and finally the finished tomato sauce. But you can also serve the yoghurt and the tomato sauce separately and everyone takes the sauce on their plate.
