Sift the flour and baking powder into a bowl. Stir in the sugar. Press a hollow in the middle. Pour in the egg and butter. Gradually stir in the milk until a smooth dough is formed.
Peel, core and roughly grate the apple and mix into the batter with the chocolate flakes.
Heat a pan over medium heat and lightly grease it. For each pancake, add 2 tablespoons of batter to the pan and shape into a circle. Bake the pancakes for a few minutes until bubbles form on the surface. Turn and bake for another minute. You should have about 12 pancakes.
