Cut the onions into small cubes, the garlic just a little finer. Sweat the onions in the oil until they are translucent. Now add the garlic and sauté briefly (the garlic becomes bitter and inedible if it cooks too long).
Add the two cups of rice (basmati, jasmine or parboiled rice, no boil-in-the-bag rice!) And mix the whole thing.
Add the bay leaves and allspice grains and then pour in the 3 cups of water. Finally, add enough salt until the water tastes salty.
