Rinse the dry rice in a sieve with warm water for about 5 minutes until the water is no longer cloudy.
Put the milk in a saucepan and bring to the boil. Add rice and vanilla sugar and turn the stove down to the lowest setting. Stir in between with a whisk. After approx. 25 minutes, switch off the stove and cover the rice with the remaining heat and allow it to swell for approx. 10 minutes. If there is only a little milk left in the pot, add a little more milk if necessary. Do not let the boil again! Then let it steep for another 10-15 minutes.
