- Steam the onions in the butter until translucent. Add the spinach with 4 tablespoons of water and cover and defrost over medium heat.
- Season the spinach with salt, pepper and a little grated nutmeg and pour into a buttered tin.
- Cut the ham into small cubes and spread over the spinach.
- Sprinkle the Emmentaler cheese over the ham and bake in the oven at 200 degrees on the middle rack for about 20 minutes until golden brown.
