Peel the onion and garlic and cut both into small cubes. Dice the tomatoes as well. Cut the chilli pepper into small rings.
Heat olive oil in a large saucepan and sauté the onions for 3 minutes. Then add the garlic and chili rings and fry everything for another 3 minutes.
Now deglaze with the white wine, add the tomato cubes, stir in the honey and the dried spices. If you don`t want alcohol in the sauce, you can add the same amount of water. Of course, fresh herbs can also be used instead of the dried ones or a ready-made pizza spice mixture. Now let the sauce boil down for 30 - 45 minutes, stirring several times, until the desired consistency is achieved. If you want, you can add salt and pepper to taste.
The sauce can be eaten cold or warm. With a dash of cream cheese, it is wonderfully suitable as a creamy pasta sauce or e.g., also as a spread on tortillas and burritos and is versatile.
