Mix flour, baking powder, oil, salt and pepper with enough water to make a well kneadable, non-sticky dough. Knead properly and spread out in a round baking dish. Pull up on the edge.
Cut the onion into thin slices and cover the dough with it. Dice the smoked tofu and pour over. Mix the cream and egg, salt and pepper with a fork and pour onto the onions. Finally, pour the cheese over it and add a few flakes of butter.
Bake at 200 ° C (fan oven) for about 40 minutes. Serve warm with a glass of cold Federweiß.
I prefer shortcrust pastry because it is quicker to make. It is also more tasteless than yeast dough, so the taste of the onions and tofu comes through better.
