Instructions

  1. There are a variety of recipes for Swedish Glögg, but this one is generally sweeter, spicier and stronger than German mulled wine. Best enjoyed after clearing the snow or after a round of cross-country skiing
  2. Mix everything except the vodka in a saucepan. Heat and stir for about 5 minutes, do not bring to a boil.
  3. Leave to stand with the lid on for at least 48 hours.
  4. Strain ginger, cloves, cinnamon, star anise and cardamom and add vodka to the mulled wine. The Glögg can now be bottled.
  5. Keep cold until serving.
  6. Reheat and stir in a saucepan again before serving.
  7. Put a few raisins and whole almonds in small cups and pour the warm Glögg over them. The raisins and almonds can be eaten with a teaspoon while drinking.
