Gingerbread Glaze for Painting

by Editorial Staff

Many people make a glaze for gingerbread the same as for cakes. No, this is not the kind of glaze that turns out to be brittle, heavy, and crumbles when dry. Gingerbread icing for painting is done differently, in this video recipe, I will try to show.

Drawing with this glaze is quite simple. Of course, there will be a couple of uneven lines, but then you get used to it, and you will succeed.

Ingredients

  • Egg white – 1 pc.
  • Powdered sugar – 200 g
  • Lemon juice – 1 tablespoon

Instructions

  1. Carefully separate a white from the yolk, remove excess fibers from the egg white. The egg white must be clean.
  2. Sift the powdered sugar through a fine sieve and add it in portions to the protein. Beat with a silicone spatula or whisk until the glaze is snow-white.
  3. Add lemon juice and beat for a couple of minutes.
  4. To draw fine lines, the glaze should be thick, and to cover the surface a little thinner. For a thicker glaze, add some powder. If you need more liquid, then add 0.5 teaspoon. water and stir.
  5. Add water in small doses until the desired glaze consistency is achieved. The glaze is ready.
  6. Use any food coloring to color the glaze. Touch up a small amount of glaze and start decorating your products.
  7. To prevent the glaze from drying out, cover it with cling film.
  8. How to draw? What to fill with glaze for this? To do this, you can use a strong plastic bag, a parchment bag, you can also use a file, and, of course, a pastry bag with attachments.
