Ingredients

  • 200 g baby spinach or youn spinach
  • 1 onion (s), red
  • 100 g date (s), dried
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 75 g almond sticks
  • 1 piece (s) flat bread (s), approx. 50 g
  • 1 teaspoon spice mixture (Zahtar)
  • 1 hard-boiled egg (s), for garnish

For the dressing:

  • 7 tablespoon olive oil, extra virgin
  • salt
  • 1 pinch (s) Pul Biber
  • 1 ½ tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon syrup (pekmez - grape syrup)
  • some black pepper from the mill

Instructions

  1. Wash and drain the spinach. Peel the onion and cut into thin slices. Core the dates and cut into small pieces. Mix the onions and dates with the lemon juice.
  2. Lightly toast the almonds in a dry pan.
  3. Cut the bread into small pieces and toast in a pan with olive oil or clarified butter. Add the spice mixture, toss once. Drain the croutons on paper towels.
  4. Mix all ingredients except for the dressing in a serving bowl.
  5. Mix together lemon juice, pekmez, salt and pepper, whisk with olive oil. Pour the dressing over the salad, mix again and serve immediately so that the salad is still fresh and crisp.
