Ingredients

  • 5 rolls, stale
  • 0.25 liter ¼ milk
  • liter ⅛ cream
  • 150 g butter
  • 150 grams sugar
  • 1 packet vanilla sugar
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 150 g almond sticks
  • 1 kg sour cherries, pitted
  • 4 egg whites

Instructions

  1. Cut the rolls into approx. 1 cm thin slices. Heat the milk and cream, pour onto the bread rolls, soak for about 15 minutes.
  2. Mix butter, sugar, vanilla sugar, egg yolk and cinnamon until frothy. Mix with the soaked rolls. Fold in the almonds and pitted cherries. Beat egg whites until stiff and fold in loosely.
  3. Preheat the oven to 200 ° C top / bottom heat or 180 ° C convection.
  4. Grease the baking dish generously with butter. Pour in the prepared mass. Bake in the middle of the oven for about 60 minutes.
  5. Serve hot, lukewarm or cold. Tastes great with vanilla ice cream and an extra dollop of sweet cream.
