Ingredients

  • 1 cup lentils, brown
  • 0.5 ½ cup rice
  • 3 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon cumin, ground
  • 5 onion (s)
  • 1 cup oil

Instructions

  1. With a cup we mean a normal coffee cup! The brown lentils are washed and brought to the boil with the water, then turn the heat down a little and continue to simmer for half an hour or until the lentils have softened a little. Add the cumin, salt and rice to the lentils and let the whole thing cook on a low level until the rice is cooked, about 25-30 minutes. In the meantime, roast the onions cut into strips in oil until golden brown. After the onions have been taken out of the pan, pour the oil (with which the onions were roasted) over the lentil and rice dish and stir well, if there is too much oil, then only use half. At the end, the Mdardra is served with the onions on top and a yoghurt - garlic sauce or a salad is served as a side dish.
