Stewed Cabbage in Indian Style

Ingredients
- White cabbage – 500 g
- Frozen green peas – 1 glass
- Bay leaf – 2 pcs.
- Cumin seeds – 1/2 teaspoon
- Garlic – 5 cloves
- Ginger – 25 g
- Chili pepper – 2 pcs.
- Medium onion – 2 pcs.
- Large tomatoes – 2 pcs. or small tomatoes – 4 pcs.
- Ground turmeric – 1/2 teaspoon
- Red chili pepper – 1/3 teaspoon
- Ground coriander – 1/2 teaspoon
- Ground cumin – 1/3 teaspoon
- Garam masala (powder) – 1/3 teaspoon
- Vegetable oil – 4 tablespoons
- Salt to taste
Directions
- Chop the garlic. Cut the ginger into small cubes. Onions – in half rings.
- Chop the tomatoes at random, but not very finely.
- Cut off the stalk of the pepper and cut it into rings along with the seeds.
- Chop the cabbage.
- Heat vegetable oil in a skillet, add bay leaves, cumin seeds, chili peppers, and fry for 40-60 seconds.
- Add chopped ginger and garlic and fry for 2 minutes over medium heat.
- Add chopped onion and fry until golden brown over medium heat for 2 minutes.
- Add turmeric, red chili, cumin, coriander, mix spices and fry for 1 minute over low heat.
- Add chopped tomatoes and fry until tender, 3-4 minutes.
- Add green peas.
- Add chopped cabbage and salt to taste, stir. Cover the saucepan and simmer for 15 minutes over low heat, stirring occasionally.
- Add garam masala powder, cover the pan and simmer over low heat for 1 minute.
- Stewed Indian cabbage is ready.
