Ingredients

  • 200 g beans (black peas or Börülce) from the Turkish supermarket
  • 2 carrot (s)
  • 2 potato (s)
  • 2 onions)
  • 5 tomato (s)
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 6 tablespoon olive oil
  • 0.5 liter ½ water, hot
  • some dill
  • some salt and pepper

Instructions

  1. Wash the cowpeas and leave to soak in salted, warm water overnight. The next day, sieve the beans.
  2. Peel and dice the remaining vegetables and gradually add the potatoes, carrots, onions, garlic and tomatoes to a saucepan and fry them in olive oil. Add the tomato paste and stir in the beans. Season to taste with salt. Add the hot water and simmer over medium heat for 45 minutes.
  3. Turn off the stove and let it rest for about 30 minutes. Serve lukewarm with chopped dill and fresh bread.
