Ingredients

For the dough:

  • 400 g flour
  • 1 cube yeast
  • 200 ml milk, lukewarm
  • 50 grams sugar
  • 100 g butter, melt
  • 0.5 teaspoon ½ salt

For covering:

  • 1 ½ kg apples

For the sprinkles:

  • 300 grams flour
  • 150 grams sugar
  • 200 g butter
  • Cinnamon, to taste

Instructions

  1. For the dough, first mix the yeast with the milk and a little sugar and let stand briefly.
  2. In the meantime, sieve the flour into a bowl and mix with the sugar. Then add the yeast milk, pull the surface briefly in a circle with a fork and let stand for about 15 minutes.
  3. Then add the butter and salt and use the dough hook to form a smooth yeast dough.
  4. Let rise in a warm place or in a warm water bath for about 45 minutes.
  5. In the meantime, peel, quarter and core the apples and cut into thick wedges. Drizzle with a little lemon juice if necessary.
  6. Line a greased tray with the dough and place the apple wedges on it like scales.
  7. Let the dough rise again while preparing the crumble.
  8. To do this, mix the flour and sugar and, if you like, cinnamon in a bowl, add the butter in pieces and slowly knead with the dough hook to make crumbles.
  9. Spread the crumble on the apples and bake at 200 ° C top / bottom heat for about 30 minutes.
  10. Tip: It also tastes delicious with brown cane sugar!
  11. If you like the dough less “yeasty”, it is better to use dry yeast and prepare the dough without pre-dough.
