Instructions

  1. Mix together warm margarine, sugar, salt, eggs, milk, flour, baking powder and vanilla sauce powder to form a batter. The flour and vanilla sauce powder should add up to 200 g. All ingredients can be mixed together at once until the sugar has dissolved.
  2. Grease a springform pan with a diameter of 28 cm or line it with baking paper and fill in the dough. Fill the prepared apples on top, leaving the edge 1 cm free. Pre-bake in a preheated oven at 180 ° C for about 25 minutes.
  3. In the meantime, beat the egg whites with the salt until very stiff. Then let the sugar trickle in. Fold in desiccated coconut and lemon juice. Spread on the pre-baked cake. Pull up small tips with a fork. Bake ready in approx. 20 minutes. As for any apple pie, tart, crumbly apples, such as B. Boskoop best.
  4. Note: The vanilla sauce powder can of course also be omitted. Then just use 200 g of flour. This gives the cake a wonderful yellow color, which contrasts nicely with the meringue!
