Instructions

  1. Wash the currants well. Drain thoroughly and use a fork to strip the berries from the panicles. If necessary, wash the leaves and pat dry. Mix the berries with the sugar in a bowl, mash a little with a fork and cover with the leaves.
  2. Let it steep for 3-4 hours, until the sugar has almost dissolved, stirring occasionally with a fork. Place in a large bottle with the leaves, the cinnamon stick and the cloves. Pour the fruit schnapps over the top and let it mature for 4 months in a warm, sunny place.
  3. Pour through a hair sieve and squeeze it out so that a lot of pulp remains in the liqueur. Fill into bottles.

About Editorial Staff

The Boss Kitchen editorial staff oversees content review, fact-checking, and recipe verification across the site. Published articles pass through the editorial team before going live, ensuring ingredient lists, techniques, cooking times, and nutritional claims hold up in a home kitchen. The team coordinates contributions across the site writers, handles reader corrections, and maintains consistency in measurement conventions, safety guidance, and dietary labeling. Posts under this byline typically represent team-reviewed reference material, site announcements, or editorial roundups rather than individual-author features, and they are held to the same sourcing standards as bylined recipe and product coverage.
