Instructions

  1. I`m not a cake baker - this is the only cake that I always succeed in and that everyone has liked so far! The ingredients are designed for 1 baking sheet.
  2. Prepare a yeast dough from 500 g flour, yeast, 80 g sugar, ¼ l lukewarm milk, 80 g butter, an egg and a pinch of salt and place on the buttered baking sheet.
  3. Poppy seed mixture: Bring 1/4 l milk with 20 g butter and semolina to the boil and let it soak for 5 minutes, then mix with the poppy seeds, 50 g sugar, 1 egg, 1 tablespoon rum and cinnamon.
  4. Quark mass: Separate an egg. Mix the quark with 4 tablespoons of milk, one egg yolk, 80 g of sugar and the vanilla sugar. Beat the egg white until stiff and fold in.
  5. Mix the jam with 1 tablespoon rum.
  6. Streusel: Mix 175 g of flour with 100 g of sugar, 1 sachet of vanilla sugar and 100 g of melted butter, grate into crumble.
  7. Spread blobs of the poppy seed mixture, the quark and the jam on the yeast dough. Pour the sprinkles on top. Let rise for 15 minutes.
  8. Preheat the oven (fan oven) to 160 °. Bake the cake for 35-40 minutes.

About Editorial Staff

The Boss Kitchen editorial staff oversees content review, fact-checking, and recipe verification across the site. Published articles pass through the editorial team before going live, ensuring ingredient lists, techniques, cooking times, and nutritional claims hold up in a home kitchen. The team coordinates contributions across the site writers, handles reader corrections, and maintains consistency in measurement conventions, safety guidance, and dietary labeling. Posts under this byline typically represent team-reviewed reference material, site announcements, or editorial roundups rather than individual-author features, and they are held to the same sourcing standards as bylined recipe and product coverage.
