Ingredients

  • 1 head red cabbage
  • 2 onions)
  • 200 ml oil
  • 200 ml vinegar-water mixture
  • 200 g suar
  • salt
  • possibly carrot (s)
  • possibly white cabbage

Instructions

  1. Finely slice the cabbage and onions and place in a large bowl (preferably with a lid).
  2. Mix a vinegar-water mixture (depending on the taste and strength of the vinegar) and dissolve the sugar in it. Warning: the salad should be sweet, but not too sweet. I therefore recommend taking around 100 g of sugar first and adding more sweetening if necessary. Beat with the oil and pour over the cabbage and onions. Stir everything well. Season with salt and leave to stand covered for about 1 day.
  3. Season again to taste before serving.
  4. Variant 1: The herb can also be mixed proportionally with white cabbage.
  5. Variant 2: If you want, you can also finely slice 1 or 2 carrots underneath.
