  • 200 g bacon, mixed
  • 1 can corn kernels
  • 200 g butter
  • 100 g cheese, e.. cheddar
  • salt
  • pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 175 ° C.
  2. Boil the white corn flour (please only use this one!) With 4 cups of water for about 15 minutes.
  3. In the meantime, peel and finely dice the onions. Boil the eggs hard, peel and dice them. Dice the bacon. Drain the corn in a colander.
  4. Foam 2 tablespoon butter in a pan, fry the bacon cubes in it. Add the onions and sauté.
  5. Mix the corn porridge with the bacon cubes, onions, eggs, corn kernels and the remaining butter, pepper and salt.
  6. Spread the mixture on a greased baking sheet. Grate the cheese and sprinkle it evenly over the corn porridge.
  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 175 ° C for about 10 minutes until the surface is golden brown. Cut into diamonds or triangles before serving.
  8. Note: Eggs, bacon, corn kernels and cheese are interchangeable. You can replace these with mushrooms and ham cubes, leeks and apples, smoked fish and chilli cubes, for example.
  9. Boere Pap replace e.g. bread or potatoes and can also be served when grilling.
