- 4 cups water
- 2 cups cornmeal
- 0.5 teaspoon ½ salt

- Boil water and add salt. Let the corn flour trickle in. Reduce the heat and let the porridge simmer a little, then stir. Then reduce the heat and let sit for 30 minutes with the lid closed. Stir occasionally. At the end the pap should have a firm to crumbly consistency, so that you can eat it easily with your fingers.
- Annotation:
- Then serve the pap with chakalaka (a kind of spicy tomato vegetable), spinach or beans. You eat it by picking up a lump of pap with your fingers and dipping it into the sauce / vegetable you have chosen (otherwise it will be too dry).
