Ingredients

  • 4 medium onion (s), peeled
  • 4 pinches salt, fleur de sel
  • 4 pinches black pepper, freshly ground
  • 4 teaspoons honey
  • some oil, neutral, or butter
  • some parsley, smooth, finely chopped

Instructions

  1. Cut the peeled onions just a little flat on the root side (small footprint). From the opposite side (from above) cut deeply 3 times (approx. 3/4 of the onion) with a knife, do not cut through. The onion should only be divided (into eighths) so that it absorbs the spices better and cooks faster.
  2. Prepare an appropriately sized piece of aluminum foil for each onion (width = length). Put oil or butter in the middle of the foil and place the sliced onion on top. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper and pour a teaspoon of honey over the top. Sprinkle with a little chopped parsley if you like. Now fold up the aluminum foil and wrap it up like candy. Place the wrapped onions on the edge of the grill and cook slowly, braising (approx. 30 min.). If they can be squeezed, the onions are ready.
