  • 8 rolls, stale
  • 250 ml milk
  • 80 g butter
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 60 g raisins
  • 4 egg whites
  • 4 apples or other fruit
  • sugar

Instructions

  1. Finely cut the rolls, pour the warm milk over them and let them soak. Meanwhile, stir a foam mixture of butter, egg yolk and sugar (to taste). Then stir in the breadcrumbs spoon by spoon. Add the raisins and peeled apples, cut into small pieces. Finally, beat the egg white until stiff and fold in carefully.
  2. Put the mixture in a prepared baking dish, cover with flakes of butter if necessary and bake in a preheated oven at 200 ° C for approx. 45 - 60 minutes. The bread casserole is ready when a nice brown crust has formed.
  3. Of course, you can also use other fruits such as cherries, pears, etc. instead of apples. You don`t have to add them to the mass, you can serve them separately as a compote.
