Ingredients

  • 6 stalks asparagus, fresh or from the jar
  • 6 slices cooked ham
  • 6 slices processed cheese, e.g. Chester
  • breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg (s)
  • 1 tablespoon margarine

Instructions

  1. Wash and peel fresh asparagus and cook in salted water until firm to the bite. Drain the asparagus.
  2. Place one slice of cheese on top of each slice of cooked ham. Place the asparagus on one edge of the ham and roll the whole thing up. Fix with a toothpick.
  3. Beat the egg in a bowl and stir with a fork. Put the breadcrumbs on a plate. Turn the rolls first in the egg, then in the breadcrumbs until they are well covered with breading.
  4. Leave out the margarine in a pan and fry the asparagus rolls brown all over.
  5. Goes well with potato or pasta salad and is great to prepare. The rolls are also really tasty when cold. For people who don`t like asparagus, just leave it out. Tastes good too.
