Instructions

  1. Peel the watermelon and cut into 1 x 1 cm cubes. Wash the cucumber and cut in half. Scrape out the seeds with a spoon and throw them away. Cut the cucumber into approx. 1/2 cm cubes. Work with gloves on the chilli pepper. Halve, scrape out the seeds and throw away. Chop the pod into small cubes. Then wash the work surface well, clean the knife and wash your hands (with gloves). Peel the garlic and chop it very finely. Rub some of the peel of the lime, then squeeze half of it. Roughly chop the basil.
  2. Mix all ingredients in a bowl and season with salt and pepper. Let it soak in the fridge for at least an hour, it is better to do it overnight.
  3. The salad gets a little watery in the refrigerator because the salt pulls the liquid out of the cucumber and melon. If you like the salad dry, pour the juice into a glass and just drink it up - super refreshing and slightly spicy!
  4. The salad is a great accompaniment to fish from the grill, from the oven or from the pan. A baked sheep`s cheese or mozzarella balls complement it as a main meal.
