Ingredients

  • 200 g currants, red or black
  • 275 ml port wine
  • 3 tablespoons sugar, taste a little less too
  • 75 ml syrup (cassis), or cassis liqueur
  • Export beer, mild, ice-cold

Instructions

  1. Pluck the currants, clean, rinse and drain very well.
  2. Put the port wine, sugar and syrup or liqueur in a saucepan, simmer for a good 2 minutes. Add currants, stir everything well. Take the pot off the stove and let it cool down.
  3. Pour 2-3 tablespoons of the currant mixture into a larger glass and fill up with the well-chilled beer. Be careful, something is foaming. Serve with a long dessert spoon.
  4. A great drink for every party, very refreshing and with significantly less alcohol than normal cocktails and made with little effort.
  5. The currant syrup can be kept in the refrigerator for about 3 weeks. The cocktail becomes more intense with black berries and milder with red berries.
