Ingredients

  • 1 liter schnapps, (yeast schnapps)
  • 700 g currants, black
  • 1 vanilla pod (s)
  • 3 tablespoon sugar

Instructions

  1. Wash the currants and pluck from the stems. Mix with the sugar and mash lightly with a fork.
  2. Pour into a large glass and let stand for 1 hour.
  3. Halve a vanilla pod, slit lengthwise, and place in the glass.
  4. Pour the schnapps on top and let stand in a light place for 1 year.
  5. After 1 year, strain the liquid and filter through a very fine-meshed tea strainer or a paper coffee filter.
  6. Remove the vanilla pod, wash it, and let it air dry. It can still be used to flavor sugar.
