This is a slightly unusual recipe for charlotte with apples. Apples are laid into the dough, and a filling of sugar and cinnamon is sprinkled on top. The finished charlotte is obtained with a caramel crust.
Let’s prepare the filling. In a bowl, combine the chopped nuts, brown sugar, cinnamon, 2/3 cup flour, and 4 tbsp oils. Stir until smooth. Peel, core, and cut the apples. Sprinkle with 2 tbsp white sugar. Preheat oven to 180 degrees. Grease a baking sheet with high sides (35×25 cm).
Whisk 1 cup butter and 1.5 cups sugar in a large bowl at high speed. Add sour cream, baking powder, baking soda, vanillin, eggs, and the remaining 2.5 cups flour. Beat on low speed until smooth. Increase speed to medium and beat for 1 minute.
Pour the dough onto a baking sheet, put the apples on top.
Put the prepared filling evenly on top of the apples. Bake for 45-50 minutes. Chill charlotte with caramel apples on the wire rack.
