Cherry Strudel

Crunchy yet juicy, this is a puff pastry strudel with cherries. The cherry puff roll is so delicious that it is impossible to stop at one piece of dessert!

Ingredients

  • Puff pastry – 500 g
  • Cherries – 300 g
  • Sugar – 0.5 cups
  • Corn flour – 2 tbsp
  • Chicken egg – 1 pc.
  • Powdered sugar – for dusting

Directions

  1. Prepare the required ingredients.
    Defrost puff pastry if you purchased it frozen.
  2. Rinse the cherries, separate the seeds, and place the peeled berries in a saucepan or nonstick saucepan. Pour in 3 tablespoon. sugar.
  3. Place the container on the stove and bring the contents to a boil. Simmer the cherries in sugar for about 5-6 minutes. Then drain the cherry juice into another container, leaving only the berries in the saucepan.
  4. Stir in the remaining sugar and cornmeal – it will absorb the excess cherry juice. Stir until the cherry strudel filling is ready.
  5. Roll out the puff pastry into a thin layer. Layout the cherry filling horizontally on one edge of the dough, make cuts not completely on the other edge.
  6. Roll the dough into a roll, first bending the side edges onto the filling, and then folding the layer of dough with the filling itself so that the cuts are on top. Transfer the roll to a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  7. Beat an egg in a cup and brush over the workpiece. (If you wish, you can use only the yolk, whisking it with a few tablespoons of milk.) Place the puff pastry roll with cherries in the preheated oven and bake at 200 degrees until golden brown, about 20-25 minutes.
  8. Remove the cherry strudel from the oven and let it cool to thicken the filling inside.
  9. Sprinkle the cherry strudel with powdered sugar and serve, cut into portions. Do not forget to brew delicious tea, coffee, cocoa.
