  • Chicken liver – 400 g
  • Tomatoes – 250 g (2 pcs.)
  • Bulgarian green pepper – 100 g (1 pc.)
  • Purple onions – 50 g (0.5 pcs.)
  • Soy sauce – 2 tbsp
  • Vinegar 9% – 2 tbsp
  • Salt – 1 pinch (to taste)
  • Ground black pepper – a pinch
  • White sesame – 1 teaspoon
  • Black sesame – 1 teaspoon
  • Vegetable oil (for frying) – 2 tbsp
  • Fresh basil (for serving) – 1 sprig

Chicken Liver Stewed with Bell Pepper, Tomatoes and Onions Instructions

  1. Prepare everything you need. Chicken liver is best used fresh, not frozen, so the finished dish will be much juicier. Wash and dry the chicken liver, tomatoes, and bell peppers. Peel and wash the onion.
  2. Cut the onions into thin half-rings.
  3. Transfer the onion to a deep bowl and cover with vinegar. Leave to marinate for 10 minutes.
  4. Pour the soy sauce over the chicken liver and marinate for 10 minutes.

  5. While the onion and liver are marinating, cut the tomatoes into thin slices and the peppers into thin strips.
  6. Squeeze the onions from the vinegar and place them in a frying pan preheated with vegetable oil. Fry the onions for 2-3 minutes.

  7. Add the chicken livers to the skillet along with the soy sauce. Cook over high heat for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally until the liver is browned on all sides.
  8. Add tomatoes and bell peppers to the pan, season with salt and pepper. Stir, cover, and simmer for 10 minutes over medium heat.
  9. Remove the lid and evaporate the liquid over medium heat for another 3-4 minutes.

  10. Add sesame seeds and cook for 2 more minutes.
