Instructions

  1. Mix the grated apples (not peeled), sugar, finely chopped figs, raisins, nuts, spices and rum and let stand for 24 hours. Mix in the flour and baking powder. The dough will be very sticky.
  2. Then shape small loaves with wet hands and bake at 180 ° C (fan oven) for approx. 90 minutes. It is best to let it sit for 2 weeks.
  3. I always form loaves the size of baguette rolls. The amount makes about 12 loaves.
  4. For giving away, I wrap these in cling film or transparent gift bags, decorated with ribbon, small fir branches, small balls or similar. Red apples made of cardboard also look nice as tags, on the back of which you can note the ingredients.

About Editorial Staff

The Boss Kitchen editorial staff oversees content review, fact-checking, and recipe verification across the site. Published articles pass through the editorial team before going live, ensuring ingredient lists, techniques, cooking times, and nutritional claims hold up in a home kitchen. The team coordinates contributions across the site writers, handles reader corrections, and maintains consistency in measurement conventions, safety guidance, and dietary labeling. Posts under this byline typically represent team-reviewed reference material, site announcements, or editorial roundups rather than individual-author features, and they are held to the same sourcing standards as bylined recipe and product coverage.
