Mix sifted powdered sugar, organic vanilla sugar and vegan soft margarine into a creamy mixture. Use a toothpick to add two small drops of green food coloring and knead to distribute evenly. Now knead in the sifted flour and sifted cornstarch until you get a nice, soft, green dough.
Pour the dough into a piping bag with a star nozzle and spray it onto a baking sheet lined with baking paper in three widening flame-shaped curves, so that a tree shape is created. Then don`t forget a blob for the tree trunk. Then spray on the matching counterpart of the same size. Make sure not to place the shortbread cookies too tightly, as they will still rise a little while baking. Bake in a preheated oven at 190 ° C for about 10 minutes.
Remove the trees from the tray and let them cool down. Then heat the nougat slightly, stir until smooth and spread it on the underside of a tree with a knife. Place a second tree on it and press it down lightly.
Now decorate for Christmas with dark chocolate and sugar decorations as you wish.
Tip:
Vegan colors are very color-intensive, even the smallest amounts are sufficient!
Instead of the nougat filling, you can also use currant jam or Christmas speculoos cream.
Without food coloring it is also very easy to conjure up flaming hearts. Simply leave out the blob for the tree trunk and dip half of the heart in dark chocolate.
When baking, make sure that only the edge is very slightly golden brown. The middle should stay light.
