Ingredients

  • 1 small Head white cabbage, finely sliced
  • 1 onion (s), finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar, (white wine vinegar)
  • 100 g bacon, fat, cut into small cubes
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 teaspoon caraway seeds, ground

Instructions

  1. Quarter white cabbage and cut into fine strips without the stalk, goes well with the slicer.
  2. Bring the water to the boil in a large saucepan, add the cabbage and bring to the boil while stirring. Pour off the water. Mix with the onions, salt, pepper, sugar, vinegar and caraway seeds while still warm.
  3. Leave the bacon in the pan and pour over the salad with the fat.
  4. As a contrast, you can also prepare red cabbage (red cabbage) according to the same recipe.
  5. It tastes best when it is lukewarm.
