Instructions

  1. Quickly knead the flour, margarine, sugar and egg into a shortcrust pastry. (You can certainly only do this by hand or like me: first mix everything with the mixer. You then get small crumbs, which you then knead together by hand.) Put the dough in a cool place for at least half an hour.
  2. Peel and quarter the apples.
  3. Divide the dough into two - not exactly the same size - portions. Spread the slightly larger portion out on the greased cake pan base and form a 1-2 cm high edge. Spread the apple pieces on top. If you like, you can sprinkle cinnamon, sugar, nuts or raisins over the apples, but you can leave that out. Now roll out the second, smaller half of the dough into a circle and cover the apples with it.
  4. Bake the cake for 40-45 minutes at 180 °.
  5. If you want, you can dust the cake with powdered sugar or put a glaze on it, but it also tastes good without it.
  6. The cake tastes particularly good fresh from the oven, as a warm dessert!
