- Peel the carrots and slice them into small sticks. Peel the onions and cut into small cubes. Mix the carrots, diced onions and mayonnaise together. Pour a thin layer of sugar on top and a pinch of salt. Stir again. Let the lettuce soak in the refrigerator. It tastes best the next day!
