Ingredients

  • 4 slices bread dumplings or pretzel dumplings from the day before, 1 - 2 cm thick
  • 4 burger buns
  • 4 slices cheese, e.g., Gouda or mountain cheese
  • 4 meatball (s) (burger patties)
  • 1 tomato (s), sliced
  • 1 pickle (s), sliced
  • 1 onion (s), sliced
  • 1 handful lettuce, e.g., Iceberg lettuce, cut into strips
  • Barbecue sauce, ketchup or tartar sauce
  • mustard
  • salt and pepper
  • Fat for frying

Instructions

  1. Fry the bread or pretzel dumpling slices well on both sides with hot fat in a pan. Fry the burger patties at the same time.
  2. Briefly toast the burger buns on the cut edge in a pan. Put the barbecue sauce or tartar sauce on the lower half and the cheese on the other. Then place the meat on the lower half and brush with a little mustard. Salt and pepper as desired. Then place the bread or pretzel dumpling slice on top and brush with barbecue sauce or ketchup. Then put all the other ingredients on top and close with the lid.
  3. Of course, you can top the burgers as you like. It tastes good with and without meat and is great to vary. Instead of burger buns, I also like to have the toasties from Golden Toast (they don`t get so soft) and bake them with cheese in the oven. There are no limits to the imagination with the dumpling burgers!
