Dutch Mashed Potatoes

Mashed potatoes are prepared with apples. You can add both sour and sweet varieties (individually or together).

Ingredients

  • Potatoes (cut into pieces) – 1 kg
  • Sweet apples (peeled and cut into pieces) – 500 g
  • Sour apples (peeled and cut into pieces) – 250 g
  • Butter – 40 g
  • Salt to taste
  • Ground black pepper – to taste
  • Blood sausage (sliced ​​and fried) for serving
  • Butter (melted) for serving

Directions

  1. Put the potatoes in a large saucepan, cover with water, add apples and 25 g of butter. Bring to a boil, cover the pan with a lid, reduce heat to low, cook potatoes until soft, about 30 minutes.
  2. Drain the potatoes by reserving water. Put the potatoes and apples back into the saucepan, add the remaining butter, mashed with a potato machine. Add a little of the reserved liquid to make the mashed potatoes the consistency you prefer.
  3. Add salt and pepper to the puree to taste.
  4. Serve mashed potatoes with grilled blood sausage and butter.
