Ingredients

  • 100 g lentils, red
  • 1 medium onion (s)
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 large chilli pepper (s), red
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 can tomato (s), chopped
  • salt and pepper
  • possibly water
  • Herbs, Italian

Instructions

  1. Cut the onions into not too small cubes. Finely chop the garlic. Cut the chilli pepper with the seeds into thin rings or also finely chop.
  2. Sweat everything together in a little olive oil until the onions are translucent. Add the lentils, tomato paste and honey and fry briefly. Add the chopped tomatoes and possibly some water.
  3. Season with salt, pepper and Italian herbs. Simmer for 15-20 minutes, until the lentils are soft but still firm to the bite. I prefer to eat the lentil bolognese with whole grain penne with lots of fresh parmesan.
