Forshmak made of herring, apples, potatoes, and eggs is an original and tasty snack for a holiday and on weekdays. The ingredients are harmoniously combined with each other, but at the same time, each one is felt separately. Fried potatoes give the forshmak a special taste and satiety, and apples – a delicate aroma and sourness. It must be tried!

Ingredients
Salted herring – 400 g (1 pc.)
Potatoes – 200 g (2 pcs.)
Onions – 200 g (3 pcs.)
Sweet and sour apples – 200 g (3 pcs.)
Milk – 100 ml
Vegetable oil – 40 ml
Eggs (for decoration) – 2 pcs.
Fresh dill (for decoration) – 8 g
Fresh parsley (for decoration) – 8 g
Ground black pepper – 1 pinch
Salt to taste
Directions
We cut the herring, take out the insides, clean, and thoroughly wash the inside of the belly. Then we cut off the head of the herring, cut the herring in half along the ridge, remove the ridge and rib bones. Remove the skin from the herring fillet. Soak herring fillets in milk for one to two hours.
Boil eggs hard-boiled (10 minutes after boiling water). Cool the eggs in cold water and then peel.
Peel the potatoes, wash and cut into strips. Fry with 1 tablespoon. a spoon of vegetable oil for 10-15 minutes, until tender. Transfer the fried potatoes to a plate and cool.
Peel the onion, wash, cut into small cubes. Fry the onions in a pan, where the potatoes were fried, for 4-6 minutes, until golden brown. Cool it down.
Cut the herring fillet into small pieces.
We combine potatoes, onions, herring, mix and pass through a meat grinder with a fine mesh.
We wash the apples and remove the skin and seeds, cut them into large pieces.
We pass the apples through a meat grinder with a fine mesh and add to the herring mass. Add pepper to taste here, the remaining vegetable oil, and mix. We cool it down. (Depending on the salinity of the herring, you can adjust the taste of the snack with salt.)
We spread the forshmak on a plate, give the desired shape, decorate with slices of boiled eggs, sprigs of dill and parsley. You can use an airtight food container for refrigeration.
