Gingerbread Cake with Salted Caramel

Ingredients

  • Flour – 2 Glasses
  • Ground ginger – 2-4 teaspoons
  • Cinnamon – 2 Teaspoons
  • Baking powder – 1 teaspoon
  • Cloves – 1/4 Teaspoon
  • Butter – 100 Grams
  • Brown sugar – 100 Grams
  • Egg – 1 Piece
  • Treacle – 1 Glass
  • Water – 1/2 Glass
  • Sugar – 100 Grams (caramel)
  • Butter – 100 grams (caramel)
  • Cream – 120 Milliliters (caramel)
  • Salt – 1 Teaspoon (caramel)

Directions

  1. Turn the oven 180 degrees and leave to heat. In a deep bowl, send the sifted flour and all the spices. Stir gently and set aside for a while.
  2.  In a separate bowl, whisk the softened butter, egg and brown sugar until smooth.
  3. Add dry ingredients, pour in molasses and hot water, mix everything thoroughly.
  4. Place the dough in a mold, flatten and place in the oven. Bake the muffin about 35-40 minutes until tender.
  5. Melt the sugar for the caramel.
  6. Add the diced butter.
  7. And pour in the cream.Add salt at the end. Once the caramel is golden and completely smooth, remove from heat and cool. Pour caramel over the finished cake before serving.
