Ingredients

  • 1 kg pork steak (s)
  • 1 onion (s)
  • 5 tomato (s), chopped or 1 can peeled tomatoes (400 g)
  • 100 g bacon
  • 1 cup red wine, dry
  • 2 tablespoon mustard
  • 1 clove garlic, chopped
  • salt and pepper
  • Paprika powder
  • Potato starch
  • butter or margarine

Instructions

  1. Cut the onion and bacon into cubes and fry in butter or margarine in a saucepan. Add the finely chopped pork, fry, add 2 tablespoons of mustard and season everything well with salt, pepper and paprika, add the clove of garlic and tomatoes. Add about a cup of water and stew everything for 2-3 hours. In between add the cup of red wine, stir from time to time and add water if necessary. Add a little more water towards the end to make a nice sauce. When the meat is tender, add the potato starch (about 1 spoon) mixed in a cup of water to thicken the sauce.
  2. Finally, season to taste, possibly adding a small spoonful of butter again.
  3. It goes well with dumplings and red cabbage, but also just fresh bread.
