Thanks to the original way of serving, this simple and tasty herring and beetroot appetizer looks festively elegant.
Cook: 20 mins
Ingredients
Boiled beets – 1-2 pcs.
Salted herring – 100 g
Egg – 1 pc.
Butter – 1 tbsp
Salt to taste
Ground black pepper – to taste
Fresh greens – for decoration
Directions
Ingredients for preparing herring and beetroot snacks.
Boil the egg for 8 minutes after boiling, cool and peel.
Mash the egg with a fork along with the butter.
Finely chop the herring fillet and select all the bones.
Add the herring to the egg-oil mixture and stir. (If using lightly salted herring, you can add salt and pepper to the filling to taste.)
Peel and cut the beets into 0.5 mm thick slices.
Cut shapes or just circles from beets with cookie cutters or a glass. (To reduce the color of the beets on other foods, you can blot them with paper towels.)
Without removing the mold, fill it tightly with herring mass (forshmak), smooth it out.
After carefully removing the molds, place the herring and beetroot appetizer on a dish.
Garnish the beets with forshmak to your liking (I used fresh rosemary and pomegranate seeds). Before serving, keep the prepared herring and beetroot appetizer in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.
A very tasty and beautiful herring and beetroot appetizer is ready.
