  • Lightly salted herring fillet – 500 g
  • Green apple – 100 g
  • Onions – 70 g
  • Chicken egg – 1 pc.
  • White bread (optional) – 100 g
  • Sugar – 1 teaspoon
  • Vinegar 9% – 1 tbsp
  • Ground black pepper – ½ teaspoon
  • Vegetable oil – 2 tbsp
  • Butter (softened) – 50 g
  • Milk (optional) – for soaking herring and bread

  1. Chop the herring fillet, previously deboned, very finely with a knife. If the herring is too salty, you can pre-soak it in milk for 1 hour.
    You can also add 100 g of white bread soaked in milk to the forshmak. Before mixing bread with herring, squeeze it out.
  2. Pour the chopped herring fillets into a separate container.

  3. Boil the egg in advance (8-10 minutes), cool and peel. Peel the green apple. Peel the onions.

  4. Add vinegar, ground black pepper, sugar, vegetable oil, butter and mix well until smooth.
