Herring Pate with Cottage Cheese

An alternative to the well-known and beloved forshmak is herring and cottage cheese pate. Easier to prepare, with fewer ingredients, and taste great. Great spread for sandwiches!

Cook: 20 minutes

Ingredients

  • Lightly salted herring – 400 g
  • Cottage cheese – 200 g
  • Sour cream – 100 g
  • Green onions – 2-3 pcs. (40 g)

    For the filling (optional):

  • Bread – 8-9 slices (300 g)

Directions

  1. Separate the herring fillet from the bones and cut it into small pieces.
  2. Rinse green onions, dry, and chop finely with a knife.
  3. Combine herring fillets and cottage cheese in a blender bowl.
  4. Whisk on high speed for about 3-4 minutes, until smooth.
  5. Combine the herring-curd mass, sour cream, and green onions in a bowl (if desired, a little green onion can be set aside for serving). Stir the pate thoroughly.
  6. Cut the bread into slices about 1 cm thick.
  7. Spread the paste on the bread.
  8. Sprinkle with green onions.
