Home herring Ingredients

  • Fresh frozen herring – 2 pcs.
  • Red onion – 2 pcs.
  • Carrots – 1 pc.
  • Homemade sunflower oil – 150 ml
  • Mustard beans – 1-2 teaspoon
  • Salt – 1-2 teaspoon.
  • Sugar – 0.5-1 teaspoon.
  • Peppercorns

Home herring Instructions

  1. Partially defrost the herring (do not thaw completely). Cut off the head, remove the entrails, and wash thoroughly.
  2. Cut the red onions into rings, cut the carrots into slices, and cut the herring into slices.
  3. In a glass container, layer the ingredients in alternating order: onions, carrots, mustard beans, peppercorns, herring, salt, and sugar.
  4. Pour the sunflower oil into the container until filled. Seal the container tightly and shake well. Refrigerate for 1–2 hours before serving.
