Ingredients

  • 250 g honey
  • 250 g flour
  • 100 g suar
  • 2 egg (s)
  • 1 packet baking powder
  • 100 ml milk
  • 1 teaspoon anise powder, green or star anise
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder
  • 1 teaspoon ginger powder
  • 1 teaspoon clove pepper
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 packet vanilla sugar or vanilla sugar
  • Butter for the mold
  • Flour for the mold

Instructions

  1. Mix the spices. Put the flour, baking powder, sugar, vanilla sugar and the spices in a bowl and mix together. Now heat the honey (the easiest way is in the microwave). Put the hot honey in the bowl, on top of the other ingredients and stir vigorously with the dough hook of the hand mixer. Gradually add the eggs and milk (room temperature).
  2. Butter a loaf pan (30 cm), sprinkle with flour and pour in the dough. Put the tin in the cold (!) Oven and bake at 160 ° C for about 75 minutes. Let the honey bread cool down and only remove it from the mold after it has cooled down. Wrap the bread in aluminum foil and wait 24 hours before eating.
  3. The spices can also be exchanged by leaving out some spices and adding others instead. E.g. cardamom, coriander seeds, fennel seeds. This recipe can be optimally varied by adding dried fruits, nuts, orange juice or rum.
  4. The bread is ideal in sauces for game dishes or sauerbraten, simply crumble a slice (like sauce gingerbread) into the sauce.
  5. It can be stored for a week wrapped in aluminum foil.
