Ingredients

  • 2 ½ liters apple juice, unsweetened
  • 60 ml maple syrup
  • 6 grains allspice, whole
  • 6 carnation (s), whole
  • 2 sticks cinnamon
  • 1 medium lemon (s), zest cut into strips
  • 1 large orange (s), peel cut into strips
  • Cinnamon, whole for garnish

Instructions

  1. Put the maple syrup and 2.5 - 2.7 liters of apple juice in a large saucepan. Add the allspice grains, cloves, cinnamon sticks, lemons and orange peel. Heat over moderate heat for 5-10 minutes, the juice should be very hot, but not boiling. Remove from the heat and pour the whole thing through a sieve into a heat-resistant container.
  2. Serve hot in a large mug with a stick of cinnamon.
  3. You can also use sweetened apple juice, but then you should do without the maple syrup in whole or in part. You can always sweeten according to your taste.
